Rotary Club of Kolhapur Central
* Club History
Late P.D.G. Rtn. Motibhai Doshi the than 77-78 D.G. of Dist 317 was very musch confident about starting one additional Rotary Club in Kolhapur – the fast developing and prosperous city. Therefore our beloved P.D.G. Rtn. Motibhai Doshi appointed Rt. Dr. M.N.Joshi s G.S.R., Dr. Ashok Jagtap, Shaishkant Nerlekar, Dr. Keertikumar Argade and Subhash Bhurke took the initiative to start the Rotary Club of Kolhapur Central. They contacted 35 enthusiastic, service minded and dedicated members and then all were inducted in the Rotary Family. We have received the charter on 13th May 1978 and Rtn. Dr. Ashok Jagtap became charter president and Rtn. Jayant Uchgaonkar shared the responsibility of the club secretary. Initially, even though there were 35 members, year by year membership developed gradually and then the club achieved the largest membership in the district 3170. Of course inspite of ups and downs in 34 years, the club awarded as best club/best president awards for 10 times and 2 times as best administered club. The Club also bagged various district awards almost every year and therefore the club is known as one of the most active, vibrant and best club of district.
There have been 8-10 district officers from our club for all these years, who have also won district governors appreciation awards for their work. We are very glad to state that, this club has provided the best leadership to our district in the form of Rtn. Raju Doshi as district governor of dist 3170 in year 1999-2000 and our five members namely Rtn. Dr. Murlidhar Dongare, Rtn. Shashikant Nerlekar and Rtn. Narendra Panditrao, Rtn. Dr. Niranjan Shah & Rtn. Dr. Ashok Jadhav served as Asst. Governors in year 1998-99,2001-02,2004-05 & 2010-11 respectively.
Every year we are hosting various district events like Dist Assemblies, Intercity meets, Multi district meets, PETS-SETS, Workshops for polio eradication etc.
